Does a motorcycle crankcase need to have its oil and filter replaced regularly?

The motorcycle crankcase requires regular oil and filter replacement, which is an important maintenance project to ensure the normal operation of the engine and extend its lifespan. The following is a detailed introduction of the points:

1、 Why is it necessary to change the engine oil regularly?
■Maintain lubrication performance
After a period of use, engine oil will oxidize, deteriorate, become thinner or thicker, and the lubrication effect will decrease, which can easily cause dry or semi dry grinding of parts such as crankshafts and connecting rods.
■Take away impurities and metal debris
The oil inside the crankcase will carry impurities such as combustion residues, dust, and metal shavings during operation, and long-term accumulation will accelerate wear.
■Keep the interior of the engine clean
New engine oil contains a detergent dispersant, which can clean carbon deposits and sludge, prevent oil passage blockage and crankshaft jamming.
■Help cool down
In addition to lubrication, engine oil also has a cooling effect. Deteriorated engine oil has poor cooling performance and may cause excessive crankshaft temperature.

2、 Why do we need to replace the oil filter element?
■Filter impurities
The filter element is responsible for filtering impurities such as iron filings, carbon particles, dust, etc. in the engine oil to keep the lubricating oil clean.
■Prevent impurity circulation
After the filter element is clogged, it will cause the bypass valve to open, allowing unfiltered oil to flow directly into the engine, resulting in wear of components such as the crankshaft.
■Extend the lifespan of engine oil
A clean filter element can improve the maintenance time of oil quality and slow down the aging rate of oil.

3、 The consequences of not replacing
■Accelerated component wear: Damage to crankshaft and connecting rod bearings is a common consequence.
■Possible engine jamming: Insufficient lubrication can cause high temperature biting or cylinder pulling.
■Reduce fuel efficiency and power output: increase internal resistance of the engine.
■Increased maintenance costs: The cost of repairing damaged crankshafts or bearings is relatively high.

4、 Suggested replacement cycle (for reference)
■Project replacement cycle (km) Replacement cycle (time)
■Engine oil: 1000-3000 kilometers every 3-6 months
■The oil filter should be changed every 2-3 times or every 5000 kilometers
